Foreign players in IPL high, Sam Curran sold for record price


England's all-rounder Sam Curran has emerged as the most expensive player in the world's richest cricket league, the Indian Premier League (IPL).

He has been bought by the IPL team 'Punjab Kings' for 18.5 crore rupees. He was against Australia's all-rounder Cameron Greene and England's Test captain Ben Stokes.

Cameron Green was the second most expensive player in the auction, he was hired by the leading IPL team Mumbai Indians for Rs.17.5 crores.

While England's Test captain Ben Stokes became the third most expensive player in the IPL auction, bought by Chennai Super Kings for Rs.16.25 crores.

It should be noted that earlier South Africa's Chris Morris was the most expensive player of all time and still the most expensive player in terms of dollars. Although Sam Karan has got the highest value in terms of Indian rupees.  When we talk about the calculation between dollars and rupees, Sam Karan is still less than Chris Morris because compared to last year, the value of Indian rupees compared to dollars has decreased. 

Ben Stokes was sold for Rs.14.5 crores in 2017, which was a record price at that time and In 2018, Rajasthan Royals hired him for Rs.12.5 crores.

England player Harry Brooks performed well in the series against Pakistan and that may be why he was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs.13 crores.

Sam Curran had previously represented Punjab for the first time in the IPL. He tweeted on being bought by Punjab: 'Back to where it all started! Now I am looking forward.

Kings XI Punjab director Ness Wadia said of Sam Curran: “He is a world-class player. He is so good that he has the ability to be a part of any World XI and play in any situation. He is one of the best if not the best all-rounder. Because of them, the team will get a good balance.'

While Green has expressed his gratitude for joining the Mumbai Indians and said, "I can't believe it's actually happened’. Lucknow team hired West Indies player Nicholas Pooran for Rs.16 crores.
